I had the privilege of calling D1 my home for 2 months! To be among so many wonderful, hungry, passionate, and talented people, was so inspirational. It was constant motivation to contribute my knowledge as well as absorb all the information that was bouncing of the walls all around me. I owe it to Leslie Feliciano who introduced me to Vania, who gave me the opportunity to come share with her program my talents and passion for dance.

What is so special about my experience with D1 is that I had the opportunity to work in the program for extended period of time. I got to teach weekly classes, master classes as well as train the company. I didn’t only teach the students, I trained with them, ate with them, performed with them, and just hung around with them too. I got the chance to know a lot of them on a more intimate level than just teacher and student. I am thankful for this because I was able to connect with them further. I learned their passions and what drives them to be a dancer, teacher or a performer, and I was able to give advice outside of the dance studio about the rigorous work it is to pursue a career in the arts. I met family and friends and learned about some of their backgrounds. No matter where they came from, there was one thing that was always clear.. “All I know, is that I want to dance.” D1 and its highly dedicated staff, great facilities, and very talented teachers that excel in all styles of dance, are all the right tools necessary to help it’s students advance, and “DANCE.” The future of D1 –Dance and all of its rising artists is limitless!

What I hoped to have communicated to the company and students of D1: Technique is important! A great dancer is one who excels in all styles, not just one concentration. But also, the best dancer is one who doesn’t just dance with their feet, they dance with their heart. You must enjoy every second, live in the moment, and just Love it!! I speak through movement (DANCE); a language that is understood universally. It is important to know you NEVER stop learning! and it all starts with a DREAM. THANK YOU D1!! ~ All my love ~ “cinco, seis!!”
